About Theatre Unions and Associations

For your Off-Broadway production you will have to decide whether you want your production to be a union production or non-union production.  If you choose it to be a union production you will have a larger pool of actors, press agents and other creative personnel to pick from.  In addition, your show will be eligible for TDF and TKTS ticket sales which are very popular discounted ticketing services in New York.  If you choose to present a non-union production your weekly payroll will most likely be substantially less.  Some larger Off-Broadway venues require you use union personnel while other smaller venues give you the option to present your production union or non-union.  This is a delicate subject which should be giving special attention.  Your general manager and legal counsel can be a big help when making this decision.
