The seminar, titled “Raising Money for Off Broadway Shows” will feature KEN DAVENPORT (It’s Only a Play, Kinky Boots , Altar Boyz, Awesome 80’s Prom), ROBERT DRIEMEYER (Forbidden Broadway, The Two-Character Play, La Cage aux Folles) and MEREDITH LUCIO (Bedlam’s Hamlet and Saint Joan, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess). HUGH HYSELL, National Broadway and Live Arts Lead for Groupon and producer of Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike and Peter and the Starcatcher, will moderate the discussion.

TIME: Doors open at 11:30am for complimentary coffee and bagels. The panel will take place from Noon – 1:30pm with additional time allotted afterward for conversation with fellow attendees.

HOW IT WORKS: The seminar will discuss the process of raising money to produce an Off Broadway show from financing the early development stage of readings and workshops to finding investors for productions in the Off Broadway arena. * Attendees are encouraged to pre-submit questions for the panelists when they submit their reservations. Questions will be asked live at the seminar.

ROBERT DRIEMEYER was an associate producer of the 2010 Tony Award-winning revival of La Cage aux Folles and a producer of Elling on Broadway. Off Broadway, he produced Tennessee Williams’ The Two-Character Play starring Amanda Plummer and Brad Dourif, and was an associate producer of Forbidden Broadway. He produced Slap&Tickle by David Parr and directed by David Drake in Provincetown, MA; and co-produced the 2004 pre-election event Dear George: Letters to the President which was presented in 40 theatres nationwide. Robert has been a presentations and graphics consultant at major investment banks and is an alumnus of the Commercial Theatre Institute.

MEREDITH LUCIO Meredith Lucio made her Off-Broadway debut (so-to-speak) as an Associate Producer of Off-Broadway’s Rooms: a rock romance. Other Off-Broadway: Bedlam’s Hamlet and Saint Joan (Off-Broadway Alliance Award, Best Revival, 2014) and The 39 Steps. Broadway productions: The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess (Tony Award, Best Revival of a Musical, 2012.) Other productions: From Broadway with Love: a Benefit Concert for Sandy Hook, (PBS). Meredith served as the Program Director for TRU’s Producer Mentorship Program and has been a panelist for the Commercial Theater Institute. She is currently developing a theater game app (release date Jan/2015) as well as two new plays for West End/Broadway.

HUGH HYSELL is a Tony Award ® winning Broadway producer and award winning marketer. His Broadway producing projects include Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (2013 Tony Award ® and Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play), Peter and the Starcatcher (winner of 5 Tony Awards), and Impressionism. Off Broadway, he has produced, conceived and directed The All-Male Importance of Being Earnest, Y-2-Gay The Musical, and Seamen The Sailor Musical. Hugh served as Director of Marketing and Development for NYU Skirball and ran HHC Marketing where he has served as marketing director of over 200 Broadway and Off Broadway shows. He serves on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Multicultural Diversity Action Committee and is an Associate Professor at Columbia University. He currently plays “Maurizio” in the Off Broadway companies of My Big Gay Italian Wedding and My Big Gay Italian Funeral (just celebrated his one year anniversary in both shows). He has provided pro bono services to Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids, HRC, GLAAD and The Commercial Theatre Institute. He is a founding member of The Off Broadway Alliance and currently serves as a Nominator for the Off Broadway Alliance Awards.
